Oneg

The word "Oneg" is Hebrew for "joy" or "delight" and it is an event to express the happiness of the Sabbath and to build community. In Isaiah 58:13, we are instructed to "call the Sabbath a delight".

Oneg is held the first Saturday of every month at Shalom Macon after the 11:00am Shabbat service. You can expect to find light snacks on most weeks with a wider spread on the first Shabbat of each month as well as for some holidays. (All food follows kosher guidelines and is meat-free; gluten-free options are available.)
